Wrist Drop
Wrist drop, also known as radial nerve palsy, is a condition characterized by the inability to extend the wrist and fingers due to weakness or paralysis of the muscles controlled by the radial nerve.
The radial nerve courses along the back of the upper arm and the lateral aspect of the forearm, playing a significant role in motor function (such as extending the elbow, wrist, and fingers) and providing sensation to parts of the arm and hand. Injuries, prolonged pressure on the radial nerve, nerve compression, nerve disorders like neuropathy and nerve tumors can all cause wrist drop. It can also be caused by breaking your arm, overusing your arm, and sports and work accidents.
