Cerebral palsy is a group of neurological disorders that affect movement, muscle tone, and coordination.  In many cases, cerebral palsy also affects vision, hearing, and sensation.

Cerebral means related to the brain, the word palsy means ‘weakness’

Types:

Spastic cerebral palsy:

Muscles are stiff and tight, leading to difficulties with movement.

Dyskinetic cerebral palsy:

Involves involuntary and uncontrolled movements.

Ataxic cerebral palsy:

Affects balance and coordination, leading to shaky movements.

Mixed cerebral palsy

Combination of spasticity, dyskinesia, or ataxia.
