Spondylolisthesis
Spondylolisthesis is a condition that occurs when one vertebra in the spine slips forward or backward in relation to the vertebra below it. It is a spinal condition which affects the lower vertebrae
There are different types of spondylolisthesis based on the cause and location of the slippage:
Degenerative spondylolisthesis:
Occurs due to aging-related changes in the spine, such as disc degeneration and joint arthritis.
Isthmic spondylolisthesis:
Results from a defect in the pars interarticularis, a small bone segment connecting the facet joints in the spine.
Traumatic spondylolisthesis:
Caused by a sudden injury or trauma to the spine.
Pathological spondylolisthesis:
Arises from conditions like tumors or infections weakening the vertebrae.
Symptoms
Muscle spasms in the hamstring
Back stiffness
Difficulty walking or standing for long periods
Pain when bending over
Numbness, weakness or tingling in the foot
